A Little About Susan Payton
Susan Payton knows what it takes to run a business from home. She has been self-employed since having her eldest daughter Amy in 1993 and, as a single mum in those days, worked hard to ensure she was financially independent and a good role model for her daughter. Life was a constant juggling act as she balanced her hectic work schedule as a PA to celebrities including Chris Tarrant and Gabby Logan, as well as an events co-ordinator and managing her own buy-to-let property portfolio, with doing the school run and being there for her daughter.
But she also understands the dangers of doing too much and not asking for help when you need it.
She found herself really struggling in 2004 and, in 2006, was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. This was a huge and scary wake up call for Susan and she knew she needed to start looking after herself! She went on to train as an NLP practitioner, Life Coach and Clinical Hypnotherapist, so she could help others to achieve a healthy balance.
Now married to Simon, a farmer, and with a second daughter, Daisy, aged 6, Susan is using all her skills and experiences to help other mums who want to work from home and be their own boss.
She knows better than anyone that although taking action is critical, it is not enough on its own and that self belief, wellbeing, support and inspiration are all essential ingredients for success.
Her popular Facebook group now has over 900 women in various stages of business – from starting up to scaling up. She regularly posts free training and resources in the group and loves that it is all about “helping, supporting, connecting, sharing and giving value”. She says it is not a group for people who just want to advertise their business, it is for women who want to build relationships and contribute in a meaningful way.
